Associations | | | | | Currently, there are few scientifically valid sources of information on evidence-based interventions in aging. Recognizing this deficiency, an alternative to commerce-based, anti-aging groups has been organized to serve the needs and interests of those whose practices include some aspect of longevity medicine. The new international organization is called the Society for Applied Research in Aging (SARA) and it will jointly sponsor a scientific meeting with the University of South Florida, College of Medicine in Tampa, FL on October 28 – 30, 2005. An outstanding international faculty of experts with peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated professional competence will discuss scientific, legal and ethical issues of interest to the health care provider. This first annual program of SARA that is entitled, Symposium on Clinical Interventions in Aging will also be an organizational meeting of the Society. Participation is open to all physicians and health-care practitioners who will be eligible for charter membership at the meeting. The Society offers a unique opportunity for members to contribute to development of longevity medicine while at the same time to gain recognition for their skills and elevate their professional status among peers and patients alike. | | | | The SCO has been founded on the core principle of facilitating improved communication within the eye-care community. The website will underpin society communications and will be a central resource for publishing and accessing news and developments within the specialty, and for sharing and exchanging views, opinions and experiences with peers. | | |
